About The Night Manager
The Night Manager was written following the end of the Cold War and the fall of the Iron Curtain in the late 1980s. Its protagonist is Jonathan Pine, the night manager at an upmarket hotel, who becomes embroiled in an undercover operation to take down the billionaire arms dealer Richard Roper, who is planning a massive deal with Colombian drug cartels. As well as a gripping espionage novel, The Night Manager is an exploration of the role of big business in geopolitics and a condemnation of Western governments’ meddling in international conflict. The novel was adapted into a BBC television series starring Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman in 2016.
