The Solitude of Prime Numbers was first published in 2008, and its English translation came out in 2009. It tells the story of two teenagers, Alice and Mattia, who both experienced tragedy at a very early age. They respond to their tragedies in different ways: while Alice tries desperately to fit in with the popular girls at school, Mattia takes refuge in mathematics and seeks beauty in the world of numbers. About Paolo Giordano

Paolo Giordano is a contemporary Italian writer, born in 1982 in Turin. His first novel, The Solitude of Prime Numbers, has sold over a million copies in Italy and been translated into over 30 languages. It also won Italy’s Strega Prize, making Giordano the youngest author to receive this prestigious literary award.

Giordano is also the author of The Human Body and Like Family.
