About Q & A

Q & A was first published in 2005 and quickly became an international bestseller. It tells the story of Ram Mohammad Thomas, an uneducated 18-year-old waiter who manages to win one billion rupees on a quiz show. However, he is immediately suspected of cheating, and he is forced to explain how he knew the answers to the questions.

Although Q & A has been translated into more than 40 languages and received a number of literary awards, it is probably best known in the form of Slumdog Millionaire, the cinema adaptation by Danny Boyle which came out in 2008.

About Vikas Swarup

Vikas Swarup is an Indian writer and diplomat who is best known for his extremely successful novel Q & A. However, in spite of the success of his first novel and the fact that he continues to take an interest in literature, he is still involved in government work; he currently lives in New Delhi, where he works at the Ministry of External Affairs.

The incredible success of his novels can be explained by the fact that they are set in India, which, for the majority of the world, is a mystical, unexplored country. In 2010, Swarup was conferred the degree of Doctor of Literature & Philosophy by the University of South Africa.
