About the Metamorphoses

About Ovid

Publius Ovidius Naso was a Latin poet who was born in 43 BC and died AD 17/18. He was highly educated, being trained in rhetoric and Roman law, but his passion was poetry. Later on in life, during the rule of Emperor Augustus, Ovid’s reputation was ruined and he was exiled to modern-day Romania, where he lived out the remainder of his days.
