About Titus Andronicus
Titus Andronicus is one is Shakespeare’s earliest and bloodiest tragedies. Set against the backdrop of a protracted war between the Romans and the Goths, it depicts a series of murders carried out in the name of revenge, as well as the rape and mutilation of a young woman and scenes of cannibalism. Its overt brutality and graphic depiction of violence have lost none of their power to shock, with multiple theater-goers reportedly fainting during a 2014 performance of the play in London.
About William Shakespeare
William Shakespeare is probably one of the most famous authors in English-language literature. He also enjoys an incredible amount of international popularity, given the fact that his works have been translated into every major living language. The man himself was born in Stratford-upon-Avon in England, where he also died at the age of 52. However, in spite of the fact that he is famous throughout the world, we know very little of his personal life: people can only guess about things such as his religious beliefs, sexuality, and appearance. Nevertheless, he is regarded as the greatest writer in the English language.
