About The Counterfeiters
The Counterfeiters is one of André Gide’s best-known novels, and was first published in 1925. It centers on the character of Bernard, a teenage runaway who is trying to find himself, and his two closest friends, Olivier and Edouard, as they struggle to navigate their own tangled emotions towards each other. However, this complex novel also tells the stories of a troubled young boy at boarding school, the doomed romances of Olivier’s brother Vincent, and an underground ring of counterfeiters.
