About Brodeck’s Report

Brodeck’s Report centers on a man named Brodeck, who witnessed unspeakable horrors as a concentration camp prisoner during the Second World War and has since moved to a remote village in an attempt to put his past behind him. One day, the only foreigner in the village is murdered, and as the only person who can type and possesses a typewriter, Brodeck is asked to produce a report on his death. About Philippe Claudel

Philippe Claudel was born in France in 1962. In addition to being the author of over twenty published works and the recipient of various literary awards, including the Prix Goncourt for his 2007 novel Brodeck’s Report, he works as a senior lecturer at the University of Nancy and has directed several feature films. Many of his works, including Monsieur Linh and His Child, place a heavy emphasis on the theme of war and its consequences.
